COVID-19 Test

Innovative Genomics offers a comprehensive menu of tests for a wide range of PGx, infectious disease (including COVID-19), and the list is constantly expanding as we proceed through additional research and approvals.

The InnovativeGx Coronavirus Test (COVID-19) requires a gentle lower nasal swab to be collected by you in the privacy of your home. The test kit also includes an envelope with UPS next day air return shipping label to send your sample back to our laboratory. Our team of highly trained scientists will begin to analyze your sample by using our extremely accurate molecular RT-PCR based test to confirm the presence of coronavirus (COVID-19). Your test result will typically be delivered to you through our secure web portal within 24 hours of your sample being received in our laboratory.

Respi GxTM utilizes quantitative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) to rapidly analyze your patient’s sample in 24 hours. RT-PCR technology precisely detects the correct pathogens(s) and identifies antibiotic drug resistance. This allows providers the ability to prescribe timely and effective treatment.

How we bill for COVID-19 Test

Our billing policy is in-line with current PPO, HMO, and Federal insurance companies that are currently waiving member cost-sharing for diagnostic testing related to COVID-19. The test can be done by InnovativeGx as an authorized testing facility.

This member cost-sharing waiver applies to all Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lines of business. The policy aligns with new Families First legislation and regulations requiring all health plans to provide coverage of COVID-19 testing without cost-share.

The requirement also applies to self-insured plans or uninsured, covered by the Care Act. Per guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Department of Labor, and the Department of the Treasury, all Commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare plans must cover COVID19 testing with no cost-sharing.
